Message :I have a 1992 twin turbo 170k miles, with a blown motor. The car was misfiring a couple of days after i bought it on cylinder 5. i replaced the coil pack and solved the issue. At first it showed the signs of a blown turbo, Exhaust fumes smelled like burning oil, and a huge puddle of oil in the plenum, along with my oil continuously dissapearing spark plugs oily/wet (couldny tell them apart). It still ran, but smoked like hell(looked like it was seafoamed). So i pulled the engine yesterday and removed the turbos and they had no shaft play, but somewhat oil residue inside of the turbo. So i continued tearing it apart and pulled the passenger side head and sure enough cylinder # 5 had a worn out piston and had no compression whatsoever (i would pour oil in there and it would seep through the gap immediately). due to the piston going out, it scratched the cylinder wall and roughed it up some. So my question is, am i better off getting a rebuild bottom end, stock oversized pistons, and a bored out block, or just getting a used block and starting from there. Sorry for the long post. Any questions feel free to ask and i will answer them to the best of my knowledge.
